Southern Plains Indian Museum, Anadarko, Oklahoma

Jeremy Dylan Cavin

March 8 - June 1, 2014

Jeremy Dylan Cavin (Dylan) was born in 1978 in Chickasha, Oklahoma to Tom and Brenda Cavin. He is an enrolled member of the Choctaw Nation and resides in Norman, Oklahoma, with his wife Lindsay Cavin.

Dylan has been creating art since he was a small child. In middle school his interest in comic books developed and influenced his art. He attended the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma with aid from the Choctaw Nation and an Art Talent Scholarship. Graduating with a Bachelors of Fine Arts, he has worked in the graphic design field for ten years. His current style of contemporary portraiture is influenced by his work with photography, tattooing, and comic art. He hopes that his artwork represents the bridge between traditional subject matter and contemporary styles.

Dylan's artwork has received numerous awards including: Best of Show at the 7th Annual Choctaw Art Show In 2010, First Place in the Graphic Category at the 2012 Red Earth Festival, and First Place in the Graphic Category at the 2012 Southeastern Art Show
and Market.

The artist describes his work as follows:
"To me as an artist, art is as simple and complex as making a connection to the viewer through my work. When you can achieve this, it is a special relationship that can grow beyond what is on the canvas or paper."
